Now that I have finally moved to San Francisco, this is the perfect weekend retreat to take a few girlfriends and chill out. You will come back to your city homes feeling like a new person. Bardessono is only an hour and a half drive from San Francisco, and is located in Yountville near Napa Valley. For a fun quick weekend getaway, you will find yourself in the perfect surroundings, all the top restaurants to choose from at night, plus tons of fun options for day-trips. Hotel guests all get complementary bikes upon check in. Not to mention the rooms are incredible, each with a private outdoor shower and hot tub. Hope you enjoy!!
Travel down highway 1 from San Francisco a few hours and you will end up in Big Sur. If you leave on a Friday, stay the night in Carmel (my favorite restaurant there is an old-school French joint called L’escargot — highly recommend) and also enjoy the “17 mile drive” through Pebble Beach. Located along the Pacific Ocean, Treebones resort if famous (besides for it’s obviously breathtaking views) for it’s ocean-view yurts, Wild Coast Restaurant and, who would have guessed, a sushi bar. Not a fan of camping? No fears, you won’t be slumming it in these yurts, you can still feel like you are in a tent sleeping under the stars, but you have all the comforts and amenities of a luxury cabin. FYI – You will probably want to book ahead.
I have a huge family, and we love traveling together. Last New Years, to celebrate my grandfather’s 90th birthday, my grandparents planned a trip to the Tryall Club in Jamaica, where my entire family got to enjoy the same private villa my grandparents enjoyed for their Honeymoon waaay-back-when. The Tryall Club and it’s private villas are located on the island’s north coast just a few kilometres west of the modern Montego Bay airport. The Tryall club hosts unique collection of villas nestled in a private club setting that starts at the turquoise Caribbean and continues into the panoramic hills. It is the perfect holiday resort and exclusive escape for families with children of all ages, weddings, honeymooners, golfers, and keen tennis players, but equally a romantic hideaway for couples. The physical beauty of the setting, its facilities, and overall ambience are hard to match in any other resort or club elsewhere in the Caribbean. Each villa comes complete with attentive staff offering excellent service and classic Jamaican hospitality. I have been lucky enough to do a good amount of traveling in my life, and this is by far the most luxurious place I have visited.
Last spring I was invited to my first “destination” wedding in Tulum, Mexico. It didn’t take much convincing…a 3 hour flight to Cancun from New York, an hour drive and you have arrived in your own little paradise. I was lucky enough to stay at the Ana y Jose Hotel, complements of the bride and groom…and boy oh boy do I love a good hotel! Especially with a beach front villa and killer views, plus only a 2 mile bike ride from the famous Mayan Ruins. Definitely worth the trip…and if it were up to me, I would plan to go for longer than a “long” weekend!
Summertime means picnics and BBQs. Everyone loves a good summer salad. Here are 3 delicious salad recipes you can whip up for your next summer soiree.
In today’s fast paced world, no one has time to sit at home and eat a nice hearty breakfast. Healthy smoothies are a perfect morning pick-me-up and will keep you full until lunch time rolls around. A personal favorite of mine is vegan strawberry oatmeal smoothie (no I am not a vegan, but I just love the flavor and the energy it gives me to start my day.) The recipe makes 2 servings: 1 cup soy milk; 1/2 cup rolled oats; 1 banana broken into chunks; 14 frozen strawberries; 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract; 1 1/2 teaspoons white sugar.

Every girl loves playing with the latest and greatest trends in makeup. When I walk into the makeup section of a department store, I am reminded of what it felt like to be a kid in a candy shop. I tend to stay away from heavy foundations and powders, but love to go all out when it comes to lipstick shades. When it comes to summer lip color, I live by the motto “the brighter the better.
In March I escaped the Polar Vortex in New York City and relocated to San Francisco. I was expecting the typical foggy, misty and crisp temperatures that usually come to mind when people ask, “What’s the weather like there?” Well, boy, was I wrong. Since moving, I have not had one rainy day. It has been pleasantly sunny with temperatures in the cool 70s. A major wardrobe makeover was in order. Firstly, I got rid of all heavy winter jackets, in exchange for light coats or jean jackets. Above are some of my favorite picks.
Even though it isn’t exactly “beach” weather during the months of June – August in San Francisco, all you need to do is drive 30 minutes and the cool fog turns into the warmth of the sun. I love spending summer days on the beach because I have a secret obsession collecting fun and different swimsuits. I’ve always used swimsuits as a means to express my crazier more colorful side. You are taking a much smaller fashion risk by wearing a neon and flamboyantly colored bikini at the beach than if you were to wear the same patterned suit say to work, or to dinner with friends. In choosing my swimsuits, I live by the motto “the bolder the better.” Above are a few of my favorite styles (click to purchase!)
